A-X Model for Orthoamphiboles – Diener et al. (2007) and Ds62 Dataset

Post by RenatoBarros89 »

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know where I can find — or if there even exists — an A-X model for orthoamphiboles, specifically the one from Diener et al. (2007), that is converted to the Ds62 dataset?

If such a model does exist, how can I determine whether it accounts for Fe³⁺ in the calculation of end-members?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Renato,

There is one in the Github databases site of Doug Tinkham, it is in the td-ds633-ef21-v03 file. It is the Diener et al. 2007 model, but it has no Fe3+.
I used it for Crd-Oam rocks, and I got similar results using this as with Perple_X and TC.

I hope this helps.

Hi Peter,
Exactly — this was the only updated dataset where I found the model, but I suspect my "adaptation" wasn’t quite accurate.

I’ve noticed that my results in PERPLE_X don’t match those from Theriak (I haven’t modeled them in TC yet).

Would you mind sharing your dataset? It would really help me figure out where I might have gone wrong.

Renato
